The Biggest Loser

September 27, 2011

Hi Friends,
It's me- Desperado. I'm outside of your window in a trench coat, holding a radio over my head, begging for you. Begging for you....to vote for meee in a little Rent The Runway contest on the one, the only- Facebook. I'm a big fan of RTR- it's the means by which I am able to rock a $1200 dress like it ain't no thang. So when I saw that they have weekly contests where you can submit a picture wearing one of their dresses I thought perhaps I shall do so. I've rented half a dozen dresses from the site and sent in pictures of me in all of them, and this week I got a congratulatory email saying that they chose a picture of me in the Tibi Calla Dress
as nominee for this week's Style Star and a MILLION DOLLAR GRAND PRIZE!! JK JK, but the winner gets a spot on their blog, and becomes their Facebook page profile picture for the week. I just did it for fun not even knowing if I'd get a response but now that I've been "nominated," I really wanna win. I never win anything - ever! Not even gold fish at a carnival. The toothless carnie usually feels bad for me after I've used 70 tickets trying to toss the damn ring around a glass bottle and just hands me the plastic bag so I that stop embarrassing myself in front of all the 7 year old boys who got it one shot.
So if you have a moment to spare while you're online stalking your x-boyfriend's x-girlfriend's brother's new girlfriend I'd really be grateful if you clicked this link and then "Liked" the picture. If you're not already a fan of RTR then you just have to give them a thumbs up first.
I am one of 5 nominees, so please feel free to check out their pictures as well, and if you feel like they deserve to win- by all means give them your vote. I mean, I'll never talk to you again, but yea go for it. No seriously, I want to be a good sport.

The voting is open until Thursday and the winner will be announced on Friday. Fingers crossed!
If you are kind enough to vote- thank you so much for putting me one step closer to not being the biggest loser.
THANK YOU KIND STRANGERS!
- Bethany

Got me covered.

September 23, 2011

Today I watched a single solitary leaf detach from a tree and slowly spiral downward until it hit the ground while I yelled, "Noooohoooooo" ('no' in slow motion). That's pretty much the end of the story, but I wanted to share with you that right now Old Navy has really versatile & transitional basics for this "in- between" time when it's not appropriate to wear pink daisy dukes OR a ski suit. I'm for reals y'all, they have the BEST stuff in stock. I couldn't believe it, but I was acting the same way looking at their website as I do browsing Net-a-Porter- "I want it alllllllll! wah waaah waaaah." On OldNavy.com though, I can actually afford it all. They've got me covered for the next couple of months while all the leaves make their way down to the street where they will turn brown and crunchy, and then get run over by cars and turn to mulch, and then blow all over my yard, and become a big pain in the ass. Note to self: take money I save shopping @ Old Navy and hire a landscaper. Holler if ya hear me, Kathy Lee Gifford! (I feel like she has lots of landscapers)

The Best of the Best

I deliberately left Carolina Herrera and Christian Siriano out of my last post recapping my fashion week favorites because although those collections were supa fab, these two were on a whooooole nother level. For reals, I'm considering going to Kinko's and printing Christian Siriano's Spring 12 line into wall paper and covering my room floor to ceiling with it. If Alex says no I may not do that, then I'm definitely getting it all laminated and framed.

#nyfw Ready to Wear A-Z

It's the most wonderful time of the year, it's the hap-happiest season of all.
Everyone seems to love fall. Me too. Because in the fall- designers debut their SPRING collections. I have always thought that the people who highly anticipate the September issues- have issues. Clearly, I'm insulting anyone who's reading this by saying that (because most girls love Sept. Vogue more than their teacup Yorkies) but seriously y'all- if you can't scroll through this post and agree that this is some of the prettiest freaking $%&! you've ever seen then you're nucking futs. I wish I understood the the leather straight jacket and greasy hair, paired with pants made out of pipe cleaners and rubber cement look, but I don't.
Someone explain this to me!
I like wacky, but I can't do ugly. My heart pounds only for pretty. And you can bet your hot cross buns that these collections almost put me into cardiac arrest. I have combed through every single RTW show I could find and these are all of my favorite fashion week picks. Sweet Jeezus, I LUH-HUH-HUV being a girl.
